Bio: I'm 28 Years Old, US Citizen. My sister (36) and her daughter (8 years old) from Pakistan want to immigrate to the United States. I understand that we would be using 'Family Fourth Preference F4' to get my sister her priority date.

I see that the wait for an F-4 is about 12 years and 7 months, so I am confused is that the wait time until my sister becomes a 'permanent resident' or just granted the visa? What is the wait between getting the visa number & permanent residence? I understand there is a different between 'adjustment of status' if you are in the US versus getting an immigrant visa using consulate if abroad (probably the latter?). I'm not even sure how 'adjustment of status' would apply for my sister, unless she's visiting on a B-1 temporary 6 month visitor visa at that time.
Secondly, once my sister obtains the visa or permanent residence, I'm confused as to how long she has to stay in the U.S. before getting permanent residence and also if her daughter can come to the U.S. as well at that point, or if her daughter at that point would need to THEN apply for F2A which has a wait of 2 years (current F2A wait times). Or can her daughter come with my sister when my sister is given the visa/permanent residence, and apply for the F2A simultaneously or if her daughter will have to stay in Pakistan while my sister is in the States.
The other issue I am aware of is that the current wait time for my sister would be about 13 – 15 years from the date of application to receiving the visa/green card, but by that time her daughter may be over the age of 21 so that may push her daughter into F1 (First Preference) which has a wait of 7 years aka 15 + 7 = 22 years :/ Is this correct?

My friend just recently gave me an older SodaStream machine that he never uses, having very little use overall. I'm not a big soda drinker but I do enjoy carbonated/soda water, which it's able to produce.
It works and tastes great, however I recently noticed that the included bottles carry an expiry date, dating back to October 2009. The manual mentions this in a paragraph but doesn't explain why. It also states to replace them after they become worn, scratched, discolored, loosing its transparency, etc, but in my case, the bottles appear fine.
Can anyone explain why they should to be replaced, and the reason for doing so? They simply look like regular plastic bottles bottles for the most part.
I do recall hearing something about leaving normal plastic water bottles in the sun can possibly release harmful toxins, but in my case, these have spent very little of their life in sunlight, being in storage for the majority of it.
